Deep Breathing and Mindfulness for Kids!
There are many benefits of deep breathing! It lowers heart rate and blood pressure, decreases stress, and serves as a helpful coping mechanism. Sometimes, children need help figuring out how to take a deep breath. Simply asking a child to take a deep breath in the middle of a stressful situation can be difficult. When children are in a heightened state of mind, oftentimes it is hard to grab their focus and attention. That is why visualization and imagination are effective tools when explaining and performing deep breathing.
Use this book to help with deep breathing. Utilize imagination. Role model and participate! What do the flowers smell like? How does the fresh air smell? Imagine pushing the leaves away with a forceful breath. Take your time. Take multiple breaths. Be mindful of where your breath is coming from. And most importantly, try your best to relax!
